This mace, or ‘Rungu’ as it is known in Swahili, has been coarsely carved out of a Mukuyu Tree, which is a type of Jacaranda tree. It is not used as a weapon(!), but carried by men as a symbol of their status. You can leave it as it is, looking natural, or you can varnish it.
The rungu is 18 inches long and its head is 3 inches wide.
