This is a beautifully carved pair of a Masai man and Masai woman. They are both wearing the traditional jewelry around their arms, ankles and neck. They are also wearing the traditional ‘Suka’ around their waist. This is a very unusual piece because it depicts a Masai couple in an almost caricature way.
It has taken the artist Musyoka 6 days to hand carve these very unusual pieces. A lot of attention has been paid to detail. The carving is made of Olive tree wood, which is then painted in a rich red/brown.
This stylish piece of modern African Art would look beautiful in any living space.
Each figure is just over 9 inches tall and about 1.5 inch wide.
